Each carrier oil has been strategically selected to complement the other carrier oils that make up our signature blend, down to their specific fatty-acid chain profiles. Furthermore, each component of our signature blend is designed to play a particular role within the chemical makeup and functionality it provides for your facial hair and skin. MONGONGO OIL

Mongongo Oil comes from the fruit of the Manketti trees found in the rural villages of Africa. There are several benefits of using Mongongo Oil in your daily beard care routine. These benefits include soothing frizziness and flyaways,  detangling beard hairs, adding a brilliant shine, and also providing an excellent protective barrier for heat styling. Mongongo Oil contains essential fatty acids and vitamins that create a flexible barrier to help restore the skin underneath your beard. In addition to essential fatty acids, Mongongo oil is also high in polyunsaturated fatty acids which remain on the skin and beard longer than their saturated fatty acid (coconut oils) and monounsaturated acid (jojoba and almond oils) counterparts. These polyunsaturated acids provide a protective and emollient barrier that gives your beard a deep conditioned feeling and prevents moisture from escaping. 

BROCCOLI SEED OIL

Broccoli Seed Oil is a fast absorbing and deeply penetrative oil that is sure to leave your beard feeling silky smooth while also locking in moisture and providing a sleek shine. Due to its deep penetration, this oil is easily absorbed into the epidermal tissue, where it acts to smooth wrinkles and nourish dry, dehydrated skin. Broccoli Seed Oil is an anti-inflammatory which relaxes your skin and reduces swelling that in turn can promote beard hair growth. It contains super high amounts of Erucic Acid that helps tame coarse beard hairs that have may have been exposed to damage. Along with high amounts of Erucic acid, Broccoli Seed Oil contains many other fatty acids such as oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids that play a major role in moisturizing and imparting nutrients to promote healthier and more manageable beard hair. 

XIMENIA OIL

Ximenia Oil, pronounced “she-meen-ya”, comes from a small tree found in low altitudes, woodlands, and grassy Savannah’s of Southern Africa. Ximenia Oil is a wonderfully beneficial oil that has been used for centuries by people in Southern Africa to help reduce inflammation, keep acne and skin aging at bay, promote a soft and even complexion, and provide a deeply conditioning experience for both the skin and beard hair alike. The main reason this oil is able to provide these immense benefits is due to the presence of a rare fatty acid called Ximenyic Acid, touted for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Along with this rare fatty acid, Ximenia Oil is comprised of up to 99% saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids that provide excellent benefits for dry and damaged beard hair and provides moisturizing and soothing effects for stressed beard hair. Along with the aforementioned benefits, Ximenia Oil is also linked to helping stimulate hair growth by improving the function of sebaceous tissues. Those familiar are calling Ximenia Oil the new and improved version of Argan Oil, it’s that good! 

UNGURAHUI (PATAUA/SEJE) OIL

Ungurahui Oil, pronounced “Oon-goo-rah-we”, is a fantastic oil derived from the Rainforests of Central and South America and is referred to as Central America’s “best kept hair secret”. This oil has been used for centuries by native tribes of the Amazon and is wildly versatile in helping improve conditions of the skin and beard alike. Some of these benefits include helping prevent snapping and breakage of dry and brittle beard hair, treating frizziness, and providing antioxidant and antibacterial properties to help maintain a proper environment underneath your beard. Ungurahui Oil is lightweight and it’s small molecular structure allows the oil to penetrate the beard hair shaft to infuse moisture from the inside out. Ungurahui Oil is also used to help prevent beard hair loss while also acting as an anti-beard dandruff (beardruff) agent by calming the skin underneath your beard and moisturizing from root to tip. 

MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL

Meadowfoam Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the Meadowfoam flower and has many benefits for your beard care routine! Meadowfoam Seed Oil helps in managing dullness, tangles, brittleness, and frizziness in your beard while giving it a lively sheen. This carrier oil specifically mimics sebum oil that is naturally produced by the skin making it very effective at sealing in moisture. Meadowfoam seed oil will leave your beard feeling velvety smooth due to the unique composition of fatty acids. Speaking of fatty acids, this oil is made up of 90-95% of them giving it the rich moisturizing properties and luxurious texture you feel when applying in beard. Aside from the beard and skin benefits, Meadowfoam Seed oil is also highly resistant to oxidation meaning it is not likely to go rancid and even extends the shelf life of the other carrier oils it combines with. 

CUCUMBER SEED OIL

Cucumber seed oil is derived from the seeds of cucumbers, yes that vegetable that is 95% water contains seeds which are made up of 45% oil. Cucumber seed oil is a deep penetrating oil that has significant skin barrier repairing properties that provide anti-bacterial effects for your skin and beard. Because the oil is super effective at penetrating deep into the skin, it has strong healing properties and helps fight against sun damage. Due to its potent antioxidant properties, Cucumber seed oil helps fight against free radicals that are caused by oxidative stress when the skin is exposed to harmful UV rays. Cucumber seed oil also promotes cell regeneration and contain a high amount of tocopherols (Vitamin E) and phytosterols which increase the production of collagen as well as hyaluronic acid in human fibroblasts, which allows the skin to recover from injury. Lastly, Cucumber seed oil is rich in Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids which help in treating dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, acne and sunburned skin. 

CACAY OIL

Cacay Oil is a rapidly absorbing and delightfully beneficial oil that has insane benefits for your skin and beard. This oil is derived from the Cacay Nut which grows in the Amazon regions of South Africa and contains very high amounts of both Vitamins E and A. If you’re wondering how much or what to compare to, Cacay Oil contains 1.5 times the amount of Vitamin E as both Argan and Rosehip oils, and more than 3 times the amount of Vitamin A (Retinol) as Rosehip oil alone. Moreover it also contains double the amount of linoleic acid of Rosehip and 2.5 times the amount found in Argan oil. What does this mean for your skin and beard? Well simply put, linoleic acid is not produced by our bodies and therefore must be supplemented and Cacay oil contains up to 68% linoleic acid which helps improve your skin’s barrier function. The Retinol factor helps to reduce wrinkles and boosts collagen production which has been proven to help stimulate beard growth. Vitamin E locks in moisture and helps reduce scarring of the skin tissue while simultaneously improving it’s elasticity. For your beard, Vitamin E ensures your hairs are thicker, healthier, and stronger at it’s roots. Finally, Cacay oil is known to deter split ends and treat damaged hair by adding moisture that is carried to the base by the high amounts of linoleic acid. 

PERILLA SEED OIL

Perilla seed oil comes from the edible seeds of Perilla frutescens, a member of the mint family that thrives in Eastern Asia. Known for its abundance of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), Perilla seed oil is a powerful antioxidant that helps defend against beard itch, premature aging, wrinkles, and inflammation. Perilla seed oil is also identified to be helpful in soothing beard and skin conditions like beardruff, eczema and psoriasis due to its unique ability to repair and rebuild the epidermis under your beard. Perilla Seed oil is also naturally rich in polyphenols and triterpenoids, primarily rosmarinuc and ursolic acid respectively. These molecules are noted for their anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-allergic qualities for your beard and skin. Perilla oil is highly moisturizing and provides excellent conditioning properties for your beard while simultaneously playing a key role in maintaining the skin barrier to protect against water loss and retain moisture.
